Was at Selegie with the usual peeps and Jamie came to mind. Called a cab home hoping to see her but Mommy just tucked her in. Blahness...

Here's a message for people who thinks office politics do not matter: You will die a slow, painful career death.
In any game, in order to succeed you must know the rules. Office politics can be the most competitive game of all. The stakes are quite high -- succeed and you get to keep your job or get promoted -- lose and you may be pounding the pavement looking for a new job.
As for us, until the day we can light cigars with hundred dollar bills, you'd better learn that emotional detachment is essential for personal success. The ladder you climb is only one person wide. If compassion drives you to want to stop, and let someone pass, then be prepared to have the soles of their shoes planted firmly in the middle of your face as they leap over you. And, in the end, the pain of my truth hurts a lot less than a chicken wing tip kicking you in the face.
Do I sound evil? Well, it IS happening around me. The conversation with the gals shook me. I may not be as cunning or manipulative and I know some other will easily beat me to it. In the end, though, I know that the selfish path is the safest path.
Ramble on.
