English VS Singlish

Zzz... Snores... Zzz...
Mr Li dozed off after taking some hypnotic flu tablets. And here I am, feeling hopelessly bored & spiritless. Therefore, I decided to blog. But what can a dull person possibly blog about? Tough!

I began surfing the net randomly for whatever is interesting and came across this:
English VS Singlish
Just compare these few phrases that Singaporeans and British use to express the same thing.

Returning a call...
British: Hello, this is David Beckham. Did anyone page me a few moments ago?
S'porean: Hallo! Siang kar pager?

When someone is in the way...
British: Excuse me, I'd like to get by. Would you please make way?
S'porean: SKIUssssss!

When someone offers to pay...
British: Hey, put your wallet away, this drink is on me.
S'porean: Eh, No-nid lah.

When entertaining...
British: Please make yourself right at home.
S'porean: Don't shy, leh!

When doubting someone...
British: I don't recall you giving me the money.
S'porean: Where got?

When declining an offer...
British: I'd prefer not to do that,if you don't mind.
S'porean: Doe-waaaan leh.

When disagreeing on a topic of discussion...
British: Err, I have to stop you there. I understand your point, but I really have to disagree with you.
S'porean: Oei! You seow ah!

When asking someone if he/she knows you...
British: Excuse me, but I noticed you staring at me for some time. Do I know you?
S'porean: See what see?

Alright, I understand that it's all crap. But pardon me, I was just trying to amuse myself. Ciao~
