Back to flying pigs...
Question: How did this phrase 'When pigs fly' come about?
There are lots of variations on sayings associated with the idea of pigs flying, as an example of something obviously nonsensical or of some event that is extremely unlikely to occur.
Probably because it appears in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll: “I’ve a right to think,” said Alice sharply... “Just about as much right,” said the Duchess, “as pigs have to fly.”
Ok, It's a fact that pigs do not fly, at least not in this world we live in.
But I still believe that pigs do fly, I don't have to see to believe. They just fly when I'm not looking...
Am I self-consoling or self-deceiving here? Hmmm.....
